KORETECK DESIGNS TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR HAITI
Koreteck, Inc. announces the development of building kits suitable for the relief effort in Haiti. These modular units can be assembled fast and easily with local labor, provide protection from hurricane force winds and debris and are among the most thermally efficient systems on the market today. This 20' x 40' design could actually be used as a permanent solution. Koreteck, Inc. has collaborated with their partners in building materials as well as construction firms to develop these kits and hopes to have them on the ground and training installers soon. ...

MONUMENTAL PROJECT DRIVES LATEST PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT FOR KORETECK
Back ventilated or "Rainscreen" supported exterior finish systems, long valued in Europe for their ability to manage moisture and achieve cutting edge design intentions, represent the fastest growing segment in commercial in the states today.
The idea of having a non-cavity, highly insulated backup wall system like Koreteck in the building envelope design to accompany these rainscreen systems seemed like a perfect match. For years, they have been used in conjunction with the standard sub girt and attachment systems used with traditional stud cavity and sheathed walls.
When designing the upcoming Norton Sound Regional Hospital in Nome, AK, Kumin and Associates was eager to explore alternatives to additional field installed attachments, given the schedule and likely jobsite conditions one would find in Alaska.
That's where the product development team at Koreteck stepped in. With multiple management perspectives from the shop, the field and structural engineering, Koretec...

BUILDER USES KORETECK BECAUSE THE HOLIDAYS WAIT FOR NO ONE
When a valued repeat customer comes to you in a bind, it's time to get creative. Such was the situation Chris Rice, President of Rice Construction in Rice Lakes, MN found himself in this past summer.
Coburn's, an employee owned Regional Grocer and longtime client of Rice was in serious danger of missing the do-or-die opening date for grocer's; Thanksgiving and the subsequent holiday season. Additionally, their employees wanted a building they could be proud of, striving for LEED Certification.
Recalling the speed and energy benefits of the Koreteck Building Envelope System, Chris pulled the trigger of redesigning their current design of CMU walls in favor of Koreteck.
The results were something Coburn's and the community of St. Joe, MN could be thankful for:
The store opened in 4 months vs. the previous benchmark of 6 months, a week before Thanksgiving. Superior thermal resistance of the building envelope enabled redesign and optimization of HVAC to the tune of 25%. T...

A LITTLE KNOWN ANGLE ON THE ENERGY BILL . . .
Awareness of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 is increasing, as Koreteck building owners can attest. Koreteck's r-values of 24.8 for the 6" system and 33.1 for the 8" ensure that in combination with merely adequate roof insulation, third-party calculation of the building envelope will more than exceed the benchmark of 50% more efficient than ASHRAE 90.1 2001 standards, which allows for $.60 per Sq. Ft. of building area to be taken as a tax deduction for the owner.
That's fine for private sector commercial work, but many involved in the design and construction of non-taxable entities (federal, public, religious, educational) felt left out of the fun. Unless you have read the code carefully you might not have known that in this instance, the deduction is allowable for those with "Design Influence", i.e. the Architect.
So consider for a moment that 60k Sq. Ft. school you're designing. If you use Koreteck, $36,000 could come off the taxable income for your firm. Don't know about ...

KORETECK NOW AVAILABLE FOR USE BELOW GRADE
Koreteck, Incorporated announced today availability of its highly insulated building system for use below ground. Now the same speed and thermal benefits previously available for the building envelope can extend all the way down to the slab.
"People have asked us for years to extend the speed and energy benefits realized on our wall solutions below grade," says Justin Willett, Koreteck Executive Vice President. "By taking the Koreteck system below grade to the foundation you can provide your clients a frostwall that is thermally broken from the slab, twice as fast and under budget. It is a great solution."
The Koreteck system provides R-values up to 33.1 and boasts an installation speed of more than 750 square feet per hour. Benefits like these have made Koreteck the first choice for building owners from Alaska to The Bahamas. The product has recently been used to boost LEED points for building owners interested in obtaining LEED certificati...

ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDING PRODUCT SPINS OFF
Koreteck, previously a BlueScope Steel company, announced today it has been purchased by a company made up of its largest distributor and current employees and management. The new company, Koreteck, Incorporated, will continue to manufacture its highly insulated building envelope system from its facility in Virginia and from a second site in Idaho.
With more than 400 projects across North America, the Koreteck system has proven to be a popular product in today's energy conscious environment. "It may seem like a risky time to spin off a new building product company," said Koreteck Executive Vice President, Justin Willett. "But we feel the focus on energy consumption and sustainability, as evidenced by the stringent building codes forthcoming and rapid adoption of LEED certification coast to coast, will carry our system through this down market and on to better days."
